Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society (MCRS) Hoppy Hours help fund our work in education and adoption! They are a great opportunity for the public  and volunteers to exercise and socialize their rabbits, while connecting with other rabbit owners in the MCRS community. Hoppy Hours are hosted at the MCRS South Saint Paul location.

Responsibilities:

Bouncers support Hoppy Hours by monitoring rabbits that are participating. Bouncers ensure that everyone (human and bun) has a fun and safe time at Hoppy Hour by:

  • Setting up the Hoppy Hour space (arrive 15 minutes early)

  • Cleaning up after the rabbits as they play

  • Watching the rabbits for any stressed or inappropriate behavior (and giving rabbits breaks with their human when needed)

  • Making sure people are holding rabbits properly (firming supported from feet and rear)

  • Making sure there is adequate hay and water at all times

  • Being alert to rabbits interacting with other rabbits

  • Cleaning up the Hoppy Hour Space (takes approximately 20 - 30 minutes)

Qualifications:

  • Attend MCRS Bunny Basics Course and training in this role specifically

  • Some rabbit experience is helpful in this role, but all volunteers will be trained

  • Strong teamwork skills to coordinate with other volunteers effectively

  • Excellent verbal communication skills to interact with clients

  • Passion for animal welfare, particularly the well-being of companion rabbits

Time Commitment: Hoppy Hour Bouncers generally commit 6 hours a month to support their location. Hoppy Hour Volunteers can let their Bunnies play with the $5 fee waived!

If you are interested in this volunteer position, please complete our MCRS Volunteer Application. Please select the “Bunny Bouncer” option to be considered for this role.

Once we have received your application and any supplemental information regarding your prior qualifications, a member of our team will reach out to you to discuss this opportunity further.
