As the COVID-19 situation improves and social distancing requirements loosen, we know that you and your bunnies are anxious for Golden Valley Hoppy Hour to return. There are several important factors impacting that decision:

1) Children are not vaccinated.

2) For years, the Animal Humane Society (AHS) has graciously provided us with the space for Hoppy Hour and Rabbit Agility. At this time, AHS is conducting business focusing on the safety of everyone. They remain closed for walk-ins and are scheduling all adoptions by appointment. Their vet services still consist of carside drop-offs and pick-ups. We must remain patient and see what place we have in their new protocols.

3) Even if AHS totally returns to life before COVID-19, we will still need to make decisions concerning the safety of our program. With 150 rabbits in the auditorium, human attendees are packed shoulder to shoulder in an indoor environment without special air quality filtration. For many, this is a family event and children are major players.

For now, until vaccinations are available for children and the percentage of the vaccinated population increase, we do not foresee Golden Valley Hoppy Hour reopening in the near future.

We will, however, be organizing smaller Hoppy Hour events at our South Saint Paul location. All South Saint Paul attendees will be required to sign up in advance, with a maximum of 16 people (two people per household; there is no limit on rabbits). Our first South Saint Paul Hoppy Hour will be held after the nail trim event on July 11th. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and website calendar to learn more about these events!
